Marq templates empower people who aren't designers to learn how to take control of daily design. Many wish they had a design eye, but most of the time...they don't.
Using Marq has empowered our campus clients to stay on brand by locking down aspects of the templates, but they can still be creative and feel like they are able to tackle projects without bringing in someone from our team.
As the sole graphic designer for our Marketing & Communications team for over three years, I have always envisioned launching an online service like Marq.com. Despite resource constraints, Marq seemed like the ideal solution. After years of budgeting challenges, we finally obtained approval to purchase a Marq license. Without wasting any time, I swiftly implemented the entire system. To balance my regular workload, I began utilizing Marq for approximately 80% of my design projects. In January 2023, Marq was successfully launched, and it has been steadily growing ever since.
Not only did I undertake the task of learning the platform and its limitations, but I also took charge of setting up the entire site structure. This involved organizing and uploading brand logos, fonts, colors, icons, and other shared assets, as well as configuring backend settings. Additionally, I established teams, users, keywords, and categories for templates and assets. I strategically developed timelines for releasing templates that would maximize our return on investment.
To ensure a smooth rollout, we introduced the platform to the university in small groups of five, and I have been responsible for conducting monthly tutorial classes to train users. The platform has significantly increased our marketing department's productivity while allowing for a more streamlined and hands-off approach. Real-time collaboration and communication with clients directly within the platform have revolutionized our workflow and significantly reduced the reliance on email exchanges.
Witnessing the empowerment the platform has brought to so many individuals has been truly rewarding. It stands as one of my most significant contributions to Campbell University, perfectly aligning with my own ideals and vision.
Watch the platform in action!
Events are a regular occurrence on college campuses, and name badges play a vital role in most of these events. As a designer, I often found myself tasked with creating name badges, which sometimes involved last-minute additions and changes to the attendee list. However, thanks to the convenience of the online templating platform, these challenges have become a thing of the past.
The platform empowers our clients to take control of their name badge creation process. They simply sign in, access the name badge template, enter the necessary information, and download the print-ready file. This entire process happens seamlessly behind the scenes, eliminating the need for me to manually handle each name badge.
One particularly impressive feature of the platform is its mail merging capability, which allows for automatic field population using a CSV file. Although the video demonstration may only show me manually creating a name badge, it's worth mentioning that the platform can swiftly generate a name badge in approximately one second. So, even if we have to create sixty name badges, it would only take sixty seconds!
The efficiency and time-saving potential of this platform are truly remarkable, and it has significantly simplified the name badge creation process for everyone involved.
In this video, you'll see the effortless process of creating a social media post, highlighting the user-friendly experience for non-designers. The template edit settings have been customized to ensure consistency with Campbell branding. While watching, you'll notice that certain elements, such as the orange bar and Campbell logo, are intentionally locked in place to maintain the desired layout. Additionally, the font faces cannot be altered but adjusting font size is a breeze. Inserting a new photo or seamlessly dragging and dropping an image is incredibly straightforward. Moreover, I demonstrate how easy it is to incorporate hyperlinks into designs, which can be exported in the appropriate file formats while retaining their interactive functionality.
